Emerging South East Asian films
Yes, this is surely not a new phenomenon, but Southeast Asian films have been premiering and winning prizes at top European and Asian film festivals for some time.
At the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) this year, they unveiled its line-up for its first full-scale physical edition, with 15 international competition titles including its first from Vietnam, Bui Thac Chuyen’s “Glorious Ashes.”
As part of our culturally and socially valuable asset, the films and streaming contents and creativity are really important for our human beings to know and learn more about each other in global and cross-border earth level, about each of our difference, diversity, history, culture, mentality, personality, fact, voice, etc.
We can learn about some trend of the emerging South East Asian films from post below of
.We agree that cinema is booming in Southeast Asia and offers a new voice on contemporary issues from a new generation of filmmakers. And, I also believe South and Southeast Asian cinema can nourish and enlighten us, using new methods of storytelling and radical aesthetics.
Definitely, there is no shortage of stories to be told and spread there and worldwide.

Indonesian Films Emerging by Young Female Directors
After the end of Suharto dictatorship, which lasted until 1998, many young directors have emerged in Indonesia, and I believe that the number of directors will continue to grow.
In particular, female directors are attracting attention.
At the Tokyo Filmex five years ago, two Indonesian female director's works ("Marlina: The Murderer in Four Acts" and "The Seen and Unseen") won the Grand Prize Award at the same time, and it seems that it was widely reported in Indonesia. Indonesia is an Islamic country and there are many problems facing women such as polygamy.
The younger generation of female directors are increasingly challenging these themes, and their works are starting to be recognized around the world, which are really positive and expecting matter.

Society after the Military Government as seen in Thai Films
If you see recent "Ten Years" in Thailand, you can realize that freedom of expression has been lost in Thailand since the 2014 military coup.
That's why their films are set in the future 10 years from now and depicted in a metaphorical way. Thai films gained international acclaim with the advent of Apichatpong Weerasethakul in the 2000s, but have been in a difficult situation since the military government came into power.
Director Nawapol Tamronrattanarit, whose film “Die Tomorrow” was screened at the Tokyo Filmex five years ago, was in his 30s. Even though he is in a tough situation, young directors are also growing up.
Indonesian director Camila Andini is also in her 30s, and this generation of directors are surely emerging in Southeast Asia, and they are also becoming regulars at international film festivals.

Minorities began to raise their voices and a variety of works appeared
There are various indigenous cultures in this region, and each country create works that make use of the characteristics of the region.
Production bases are not limited to the capital city, for example in the Philippines, it is not only in Manila, but also Mindanao Island in the south is also active in the production.
Compared to the past days of film, it has become possible to shoot movies even with low budgets. I think this is also a sign that people who could not raise their voices until now are now raising their voices.
In that sense, memories of the massacres of the past are being talked again. In general, minority people have started to raise their voices, and an extremely diverse range of works has been created, so we should really pay attention on this trend and emerging creativity as global citizen and even global business, management, and leadership person.
